Melis grew up in Silivri, Istanbul, with her younger sister Polat Sezen.She completed her high school education at Selimpaşa Atatürk Anatolian High School and, afterward, attended Koç University for higher studies. Melis’ family was always supportive of her decision to begin working as a theatre actress because she was born with an interest in acting. She has taken acting lessons from Müjdat Gezen Art Center, received drama education from the age of 12, and received theatre education for one year at Müjdat Gezen Art Center. Melis begins with the role in the play Cümbüş-ü Hospital at Ali Solmaz Theatre in Silivri.
