Suresh Raina is a former Indian International cricketer who is known for his dominating batting and off-spin bowling. He occasionally served as stand-in captain for the Indian men’s national cricket team. Suresh was born on 27th November 1986 in Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father’s name is Trilokchand Raina, who was a military officer in an ordinance factory. His mother’s name is Parvesh Raina. He has a sister and three elder brothers. He did his study at a boarding school. Later he attended Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Lucknow.
He trained in the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College. He becomes the captain of the Uttar Pradesh U-16s. He attracted the selector’s attention during his performance on U-19 tours. Later, he played for the U-17 team.

In Ranji Trophy 2005-06 season, he scored 620 runs in just 6 games. His performance in the 2004 U-19 World Cup helped him to earn a Border-Gavaskar scholarship. In 2005, he made his first-class limited overs debut and scored 645 runs with an average of 53.75.
In 2008, Raina was bought by IPL’s franchise Chennai Super Kings. From 2008 to 2015 he played for the team. In 2016, the IPL franchise Gujarat Lions bought him and made him captain. In 2017, he also played for Gujarat Lions. In 2018, Chennai Super Kings again bought him. He remained unsold in the 2022 IPL Auctions. He then became a commentator for the tournament.
Raina made his ODI debut for India on 26th July 2010 against Sri Lanka. He played in the 2011 and 2015 Cricket World cup for India. - A tweet was tweeted by Suresh Raina’s Twitter account in 2012. The tweet was directed to the Pakistan cricket team, who were ousted from the tournament after their loss to Srilanka in the semi-finals, Ek do din late gaye ghar!!!! Woh bhi besharam ki tarah Gaye… Bye-bye Pakistan!!!!.” Soon after this tweet was deleted after it was condemned on Twitter. Raina came up with a clarification on Twitter and blamed his nephew for it by tweeting, Smartphones r dangerous. Discovered it last night after my nephew posted random tweets. I’m a sportsman and would never disrespect. Though I already deleted it, I feel it’s better to clarify. To all those who r used, I’m sorry. I’m not one to show disrespect.
- During the 2016 T20 World Cu, he found himself in the middle of a match-fixing controversy on the eve of India’s World T20 Semi-final match against West Indies in Mumbai. According to reports, Suresh Raina was earlier being investigated by Sri Lanka Cricket on possible involvement in match-fixing, after being seen with a woman, who is known to be a close associate of a bookie.
