Uppalapati Venkata Suryanarayana Prabhas Raju, known as Prabhas is an Indian actor who is known for working in Telugu cinema. He was born on 23rd October 1979 in Madras, Tami Nadu to Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju and Siva Kumari. His father was a famous film producer in the Telugu film industry. He has a brother, prabodh, and a sister Pragathi. His uncle is also a Telugu actor, Krishnam Raju. Prabhas completed his schooling at DNR School, Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. Then, he pursued his engineering degree at Sri Chaitanya College, Hyderabad. He is an alumnus of Satyendra Film Institute, Visakhapatnam.

Prabhas made his film debut with Eeswar in 2002. His second film was Raghavendra, which was released in 2003. In 2004, he did his third film, Varsham. He won Santosham – Best Younger Performer award for the film. He also acted in another film, named Adavi Ramudu this year.

In 2005 he appeared in two films, Chakram and Chatrapathi. Next year he appeared in the film, Pournami. In 2007, he appeared another two films, Yogi and Munna. In the following years, he appeared in the films, Bujjigadu (2008), Billa (2009), Ek Niranjan (2009), Darling (2010), and Mr. Perfect (2011). He won CineMaa Awards 2010, for his role in Darling in the Critic’s Choice Actor category.

In 2012, Prabhas appeared in Rebel, directed by Raghava Lawrence. This was the first breakthrough of Prabhas’s career. He received appreciation from several film reviewers and the audience. In the same year, he did a short cameo in the film Denikaina Reddy. In the next year, he appeared film Mirchi. He received mixed feedback for his performance in the film. He won Nandi – Best Actor Awards for the film.

Prabhas made his Bollywood debut with the film Action Jackson in 2014. He made a guest appearance in the film. 

In 2015, Prabhas appeared in S. S. Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali: The Begining. The film breaks several records in Indian film. The film became the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film to date. Prabhas won Santosham – Best Actor Award for his performance in the movie. With the film, a new film movement started Pan-India films. In 2017, Prabhas reprised his role in its sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The film became the first Indian film ever to gross over 1000 crore in all languages in just ten days. The film became the second highest-grossing Indian film to date. For his outstanding performance in the film, he won South India International Movie Awards, in the Best Actor (Telugu) category. 

Prabhas appeared in Saaho in 2019. The movie received mixed reviews.

He was the most searched actor on Google in Karnataka, for the year 2019. Also, he was featured in the magazine Eastern Eye’s 2019 listing of the 10 Sexiest Asian Men. He is the only actor from South cinema, who appeared on the list. He was also featured on the GQ as the most influential young Indian of 2017. In 2021, he has been named the ‘Most Handsome Asian Male’ in the Fancy Odds annual list.

According to a report, in September 2020, Prabhas adopted 1650 acres of land in Khazipally Reserve Forest and made additional donations for the development of the eco-park in the name of his late father.
