PV Jagadish Kumar was born on June 12, 1955, in Kerala, to K Parameshwaran Nair and P Bhasurangi Amma. While his father was a school headmaster, his mother was a housewife. He also has two elder brothers, Dr. Gopakumar and Rajkumar; a younger brother, Sureshkumar; and two elder sisters, Late Dr. PB Santha Devi and Chandrika Devi. 

Speaking about his education, he did his primary education at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram and later did his graduation in commerce from Government Arts College in the same place. 

Jagadish also did post-graduation with a Master of Commerce from Mar Ivanios College in Trivandrum under the University of Kerala with the first rank. He also worked as a clerk in Canara Bank in Kerala. Following this, he became a lecturer and NCC officer at MG College in Thiruvananthapuram. However, he always wanted to become an actor due to which he took a long leave from his job and tried his luck in films. 

In the year 1978, Jagadish started his film career as a cinematographer with the film, Ahalya following which he dubbed for many other actors usually for short dialogues. As an actor, he made his debut with a minor role in the 1984 film, My Dear Kuttichathan which was also India’s first 3D film. In the year 1985, he became an established actor with the film, Mutharamkunnu P.O. Following that, he was seen in many other films like Nandi Veendum Varika (1986), Manivathoorile Aayiram Sivarathrikal (1987), and Vandanam (1989). 

While he used to wrote stories and screenplays for a few films including  Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu (1986) (story), Manivathoorile Aayiram Sivarathrikal (1987) (dialogue), and Adhipan (1989). In the year 1990, he was seen in the film, In Harihar Nagar and his performance was highly acclaimed. He was appreciated for his performance, especially for his comic timing. Following this, he continued to work in multiple minor roles in high-budget films until 1993-1994. These films rose him to prominence making him of the most popular actors in the early to mid-1990s. At that time, he acted in a leading role in over 30 low-budget films most of which were successful at the box office. 

Along with these, he featured in several family-oriented films, however, he was most appreciated in hero roles. Following that, he failed to reinvent himself as a strong actor in the late 1990s and 2000s. However, he again got a break in his career in the year 2009 when he reprised his role as “Appukkuttan” in Harihar Nagar 2”, a sequel to In Harihar Nagar. The film was a hit and proved to be an opportunity for him as a hero. 

Speaking about his personal life, Jagadish was married to Dr. P Rema, a forensic professor at the Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram. However, she passed away in April 2022. The couple has two daughters, both daughters of who are now married and have their own children.
