Asin Thottumkal known as Asin is a former Indian actress who was known for acting in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam films. Asin was born on 26th October 1985 in Kochi, Kerala to Joseph and Seline Thottukal. Her father was a CBI officer and later managed several businesses. Her mother is a surgeon. She completed her schooling at Naval Public School from LKG and St. Teresa’s School in Kochi. She completed her B. A in English Literature from St. Teresa’s College, Kochi. She also learned Bharatnatyam dance.
Asin started her career with advertisements.
She made her film debut with Malaylam film Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001.
Next year, in 2002, she made her Telugu debut with the film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. In that year, she appeared in the film Shivamani. She won awards for her role in Shivamani.
In 2004. Asin made her Tamil debut with the film M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi. She also appeared in two other Telugu films, Lakshmi Narasimha and Gharshana in that year.
Asin gained popularity with her 2005 Tamil film Ghajini. She won several positive reviews and critics and won several awards for her performance. In that year, she also appeared three other Tamil films, such as Ullam Ketkuae, Majaa, Sivakasi, and one Telugu film Chakram.

In 2008, her first film was the Tamil film Dasavathaaram. For the film, she received positive reviews and appraisals. In that year, she made her Hindi debut with the film Ghajini. With her first film, she made her identity in Bollywood. Again she receives many positive reviews for her role.

Asin married Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma on 19th January 2016. Together they have a daughter, Arin, who was born on 24th October 2017. She quit acting after her marriage.
