An Indian actress by profession, Amala Paul was born on October 26, 1991. She is mainly known for working in Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films. 

She did her high school at Nirmala higher secondary school, Aluva, and higher secondary education at Aluva Government Higher Secondary School. Later, she joined St Teresa’s College to pursue a B.A. degree in Communicative English. At the same time, she had also started her modeling portfolio. During this while, she was offered a supporting role in the film, Neelathamara. The film was successful at the box office but failed to earn her any major work. Next, she pursued roles in Tamil films after which she signed for a low-budget comedy film, Vikadakavi following which she got to play a lead role in another small budget film, Veerasekaran. 

Finally, in 2010, Amala got recognition with the romantic drama film, Mynaa. The film got anticipation and she also impressed many with her performance. She also gained recognition from legendary actors like Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth. She also bagged many awards for the film. 

After this, she came to be named the “new top star of 2011” as she went on to sign many big films, In 2011, she was seen playing a supporting role in the Malayalam film, Ithu Nammude Katha. Following this, she went on to sign three major films including Deiva Thirumagal which gained critical acclaim for his expressive performance. 

Next in 2012, she was seen in the multi-starrer action entertainer film, Vettai opposite actors like Arya, Madhavan, and Sameera Reddy. The film was very successful and opened to great critical and commercial acclaim. In the same year, she had five films, Vettai, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, Love Failure, Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, Akasathinte Niram, and Run Baby Run. 

After working in these, he got her first commercial success with the Telugu film, Naayak opposite actor Ram Charan. The film was a big hit and went on to become one of the biggest critical as well as commercial hits of the year. 

Her next film was a romantic comedy film, Iddarammayilatho opposite actor Allu Arjun. She received immense appreciation for her performance. Following this, she was seen in the Malayalam film, Oru Indian Pranayakadha which was a hit at the Kerala box office. 

Following this in 2014, her first release was Nimirndhu Nil which was simultaneously shot in Telugu as well. 

She has worked in a number of films in the following years including Mili, and Lailaa O Laillaa after which she signed four Malayalam films, however, left two films due to conflicting schedules. 

Talking about her personal life, she got engaged to director AL Vijay at Aluva in Kochi. They got married in 2014. However, the two filed for a divorce in 2016.
