An American actor of Indian descent Akhil Akkineni was born on April 8, 1994, in San Jose, California to actors Nagarjuna and Amala. He is the grandson of actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and the half-brother of Naga Chaitanya.
Initially, he did his schooling at the Chaitanya Vidyalaya but later went to Australia for a period of two years. Later, he came back to complete his education and got enrolled in the Oakridge International School in Hyderabad. From a very young age, he pursued acting at the age of 16 and then got into an acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. He is also a BBA graduate from the University of South Florida.
Before getting into acting, Akkineni pursued cricket and became a member of their father’s Nag Kings team in the celebrity Tollywood Trophy. Since then, he had been regularly participating in the CCL tournament further winning the 2016 edition as the captain of his team.
Speaking about his acting career, not many know that Akkineni made his debut in the film industry with the film, Sisindri as an infant. Following this, he made a cameo in the 2014 film, Manam and it was also an instant hit with the audience. The film also went on to become one of the most profitable Telugu films of the year. The film won several awards further gaining him popularity as an actor and also earning him many commercials.
Later in the year 2015, he made his debut as a full-fledged lead in the VV Vinayak film, Akhil. However, the film did not work well at the box office after which he took a two-year break.
Next in 2017, he made a comeback with the film, Hello. His third project was Mr. Manju which was released in 2019 following which his fourth film, Most Eligible Bachelor was released in 2021. The film was a big hit and also gave him a much-needed breakthrough in the industry.
Talking about his personal life, the actor got engaged to Shriya Bhupal, the granddaughter of business tycoon GV Krishna Reddy. However, their engagement was later called off.
