Edward Thomas Hardy is an English actor and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who is known for acting in Hollywood films. He was born on 15th September 1977 in London, England to Edward Chips Hardy and Anne. His father is a novelist and comedy writer and his mother is an artist and painter. Tom did his schooling at Tower House School, Reed’s School, Duff Miller Sixth Form College, Richmond Drama School and Drama Centre London.

Earlier in his career, in 1998, Tom won The Big Breakfast’s Find Me a Supermodel competition.

Tom made his film debut in 2001 with Black Hawk Down. Later that year, he made his television debut with Band of Brothers.

In 2002, he was seen in two films, Star Trek: Nemesis and Dessert.

In 2003, he starred in three films, LD 50 Lethal Dose, The Reckoning and Dot the i.

Layer Cake and EMR were his two released films in 2004.

In 2005, he acted in two television series, The Virgin Queen and Colditz.

Inception was his only released film of 2010. For his performance in the film, he won a BAFTA Rising Star award. 

From 2011 to 2014, he appeared in several films, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Locke (2013), The Drop (2014) etc. In 2013, he acted in two television series, Driven to Extremes and Poaching Wars. 

Peaky Blinders was his only released television series of 2014.

In 2015, he starred in five films, Mad Max: Fury Road, Child 44, London Road, The Revenant and Legend(also executive producer). For his performance in The Revenant, Hardy won Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards and his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

In 2017, he appeared in two films, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Dunkirk, and two television series, CBeebies Bedtime Stories and Taboo.

In 2018, he worked as an executive producer and acted in the film Venom. 

In 2019, he worked as an executive producer in the television series, A Christmas Carol.

In 2020, he worked as a narrator in the documentary, All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur. Capone was his only released film of the year.

In 2021, Tom acted in three films, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. He also worked as a story co-writer and producer in the film. In the same year, he also acted in two films, The Matrix Resurrections and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Hardy married producer Sarah Ward in 1999. They separated in 2004. He has a son with assistant director Rachael Speed in April 2008. He separated from Speed in 2009.

In July 2014, he married actress Charlotte Riley. Together they have two children; the first was born in October 2015 and the second in December 2018.
