He is one of the most popular actors who rose to prominence as Eric Effiong on the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–present), which earned him a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor in Television and two BAFTA Television Award nominations for Best Male Comedy Performance. Mizero Ncuti Gatwa was born on 15 October 1992 in Nyarugenge, Kigali, Rwanda. His father’s name is Tharcisse Gatwa who hails from the Karongi District, is a journalist with a Ph.D. in theology. As Gatwa was born and raised in Scotland, he attended Boroughmuir High School and Dunfermline High School and graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow with a BA in Acting in 2013. Ncuti Gatwa began acting with a cameo appearance in the 2014 sitcom Bob Servant. Gatwa starred in the role of Demetrius in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2016 production of A Midsummer’s Nights Dream at Shakespeare’s Globe. In May 2018, it was announced that Gatwa was cast in the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education as Eric Effiong. In the following Tv series, he prostrates the role of Eric Gay or best friend of Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield).
