Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio is an American actor and film producer who is known for acting in Hollywood films. He was born on 11th November 1974 in Los Angeles, California, the United States to George DiCaprio and Irmelin. His father was an underground comic writer, publisher, and distributor of comic books. He has a step-brother Adam Farrar. He did his schooling at the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. Later, he joined the Seeds Elementary School, and then at the John Marshall High School. He dropped out in the middle.

When he was two years old he started acting in stage shows. 

He started his career with television commercials.

In 1989, Leonardo made his television debut with The New Lassie.

In 1990, he appeared in four television series, The Mickey Mouse Club, The Outsiders, Santa Barbara and Parenthood. His performance in Parenthood helped him to earn two nominations at the 12th Youth in Film Awards—Best Young Actor in a Daytime Series for Santa Barbara and Best Young Actor Starring in a New Television Series.

In 1991, he made his film debut with Critters 3. In the same year, he also acted in two television series, Growing Pains and Roseanne. For his performance in Growing Pains, he was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor Co-starring in a Television Series.

Poison Ivy was his only released film in 1992.

In 1993, he was seen in two films, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and This Boy’s Life. For his performance in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, DiCaprio earned a National Board of Review Award, as well as nominations for a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The Basketball Diaries, The Quick and the Dead and Total Eclipse were his three released films in 1995.

In 1996, Leo starred in two films, Romeo + Juliet and Marvin’s rooms. For his acting in Romeo + Juliet, Leo earned a Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 1997 Berlin International Film Festival.

Leo received nominations for an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor for his acting in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

He was last seen in the film Don’t Look Up in 2021.

He has several upcoming films, Killers of the Flower Moon and several unnamed projects.

He launched the production house Appian Way Productions in 2004, a production company that has produced films, television series and documentary series.
