Ian David McShane is an English actor, producer, and director who is known for acting in English films and television series. He was born on 29th September 1942.

Ian made his film debut in 1962 with the film, The Wild and the Willing.

In 1964, Ian made his television debut with the television series, Redcap. In that year, he appeared in two other television series, Spanner in the Grass Works and The Sullavan Brothers.

From 1965 to 2003 he appeared in several films, such as The Pleasure Girls (1965), Sky West and Crooked (1966), If It’s Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969), Pussycat, Pussycat, I Love You (1970), Freelance (1971), Sitting Target (1972), The Last of Sheila (1973), Ransom (1974), Journey into Fear (1975), The Fifth Musketeer (1979), Cheaper to Keep Her (1981), Exposed (1983), Torchlight (1985), Sexy Beast (2000), Bollywood Queen (2002), Nemesis Game (2003) etc. During this period he was seen in numerous television series, such as You Can’t Win (1966), Wuthering Heights (1967), Whose Life Is It Anyway? (1972), The Lives of Jenny Dolan (1975), The Fantastic Journey (1976), Code Name: Diamond Head (1977), The Pirate (1978), Armchair Thriller – High Tide (1980), Magnum, P.I. His performance was praised and he won Television Critics Association Awards for Individual Achievement in Drama and Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor – Television Series Drama and five nominations. Nine Lives was his only released film in 2005. For his performance, he was nominated for Gotham Awards for Best Ensemble Cast. He had two released films in 2006, We Are Marshall and Scoop. In 2007, he gave his voice to two films, Shrek the Third and The Golden Compass. He also acted in two films. In 2008, he appeared in the television show SpongeBob SquarePants. In that year, he gave his voice to Kung Fu Panda and acted in the film, Death Race. In 2009, he starred in three films, 44 Inch Chest, Coraline and Case 39. He also worked as an executive producer in 44 Inch Chest. For the film, he won San Diego Film Critics Society Awards in the Best Ensemble Performance segment. Kings was his only released television show of the year.
