Famous for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, Bonnie Francesca Wright was born on February 17, 1991, in London, England to Sheila Teague and Gary Wright, owners of the jewelry company, Wright & Teague. 

She did her primary schooling at the Prior Weston Primary School and then did her secondary education at the King Alfred School in North London for her secondary education. However, she was in just school when she got into acting and used to study while being on set. She also attained A-levels in art, photography, and design technology. 

Speaking about her career, it was in 1999 when castings were being held across the United Kingdom for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the film adaptation of British author JK Rowling’s novel. Bonnie who had no prior professional experience aside from school plays gained the screen test for David Heyman. It was in 2001 when she made her acting debut at the age of nine with the first film of the Harry Potter series. However, she played a cameo role in the film where she was seen at the London King’s Cross Railway Station. The film was a major hit and became the highest-grossing film of the year. 

Later, she reprised her role in an expanded form with the second film of the series which was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In the film, her character started studying at Hogwarts. This film was also a hit. 

Next in 2002 and 2004, Wright co-starred in two television films, Stranded and Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures. Along with these, she also continued featuring in supporting roles in the Harry Potter films including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which was released in 2004 and 2005. 

Finally, it was in the 2007 film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix where she was seen in a lead role joining Dumbledore’s Army and further participating in the battle against Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Following this, she started gaining prominence for her onscreen presence. 

In the next films of the series, her character started to develop more when she came forward as Harry Potter’s love interest. Following her fame with the Harry Potter series, she founded her own film production company, BonBonLumiere in 2012. In the same year, she made her directorial and screenwriting debut with the short film, Separate We Come, Separate We Go. 

The film was also premiered at various film festivals. In 2013, she co-starred in the film, Before I Sleep which later premiered at the 2013 Heartland Film Festival. Her next film in the same year was The Sea, an adaptation of the John Banville novel. 

In the same year, she also made her stage debut with the play, The Moment of Truth. The play was performed at the Southwark Playhouse in London and she also received critical praise for her stage performance. 

Next, Wright filmed the comedy movie, Those Who Wander and the family-adventure film, Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg. 

Apart from these, she also directed Sophie Lowe in her music video “Dreaming” which was shot in Joshua Tree National Park. In 2014, she took part in the third series of The Great Sport Relief Bake Off. 

Some of her other works include the science fiction film, After the Dark which premiered at Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival. 

Apart from the film industry, Wright has also participated in activism and is an active spokesperson for environmentalism and awareness of plastic pollution. She has also been a part of several social activity events. 

Speaking about her personal life, Wright lives in San Diego. Earlier, she was engaged to Harry Potter co-star Jamie Campbell Bower however broke up later. In March 2022, Wright confirmed that she got married to her longtime boyfriend, Andrew Lococo.
