Angourie Rice is an Australian actress born on January 1, 2001, in Sydney, New South Wales, in Australia to director Jeremy Rice and a writer, Kate Rice. She was named after a town in New South Wales where her grandmother lived. It was in Melbourne where she attended Princes Hill Secondary College graduating in 2018. After that, she lived in Perth for five years and then in Munich and Germany for one year before moving back to Melbourne. 

She started her career as a child artist in Perth, Western Australia with many short films and Australian television credits. It was in the year 2012, she gained industry attention at just 11 years old when she was seen in the lead role in Transmission. She also won the Best Actress Award at the St Kilda Film Festival. 

In the year 2013, Rice made her feature film acting debut with the apocalyptic thriller film, These Final Hours following which she also appeared in the live-action sequences at the beginning and end of the animated film, Walking with Dinosaurs. In 2014, she was seen in another television series, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Worst Year of My Life Again, and then in Mako: Island of Secrets in 2015. Next in 2016, she finally got her breakthrough in the action comedy film, The Nice Guys where she was seen opposite actors like Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. She then appeared in the science-fiction fantasy film, Nowhere Boys: The Book of Shadows in the role of Tegan, a supernatural villain. 

It was in the year 2017 when she was seen in the Australian film adaptation of the novel, Jasper Hones which went on to gain several AACTA nominations. In the same year, she was seen in the 2017 film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Following this, she was again seen in a more significant role in the 2019 film, Spider-Man: Far From Home. She reprised her role in the web series, The Daily Bugle.net, and then again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. 

In 2018, she was seen in the romantic drama film, Every Day and then as Lisa in the Australian film adaptation of Ladies in Black for which she also won an AACTA Award for Best Lead Actress. In 2019, she starred opposite Miley Cyrus in the fifth season of Black Mirror. 

Apart from acting, she also runs a podcast, The Community Library, with an aim to democratize critical reading skills.
