Allison Howell Williams is an American actress who is known for acting in American films and television series. She was born on 13th April 1988 in New Canaan, Connecticut, the United States to Brian Williams and Jane Gillan Stoddard. Her father was a former NBC Nightly News anchor and managing editor and her mother is a TV producer. She has a brother, Doug. She did her schooling at Williams and attended New Canaan Country School and Greenwich Academy. Later, she also attended Yale University, where she majored in English and was a member of Morse College and St. Elmo secret society.
After her studies, she joined the improv comedy troupe Just Add Water. Then she acted in the YouTube series College Musical.
In 2004, she made her television debut with American Dreams. In 2010, she performed a mashup, Nature Boy. In 2011, she starred in three television series, Will & Kate: Before Happily Ever After, Jake and Amir and The League. Girls were her only released television series in 2012. Her performance was highly acclaimed and she was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. In 2013, she appeared in the television series, The Mindy Project. Peter Pan Live! was her only released television series in 2014. In 2015, she acted in the television series, The Simpsons.
Later, in 2016, she appeared in the short film, Past Forward. In 2017, she made her debut in the feature film, Get Out. Her acting was praised, and she was nominated for the MTV Award for Best Villain and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. In 2018, she acted in two television series, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Patrick Melrose. The Perfection was her only released film of the year. In 2019, she starred in the television series, Sesame Street. Horizon Line was her only released film in 2020. She has an upcoming film, M3GAN and one television series, Fellow Travelers. She also does several social and humanitarian works.
She married CollegeHumor co-founder Ricky Van Veen on 19th September 2015. In 2019, they separated.
