After weeks of belief, promotion and fan drives in Indian blockbuster movies like RRR, The Kashmir Files and Brahmastra- Part One Shiva could not make it to the Oscar Awards 2023. The Film Federation of India (FFI) President producer TP Aggarwal come up with a new Gujarati film “Chhello Show” as one selected for the Oscar.
FFI President producer TP Aggarwal along with 17 member jury unanimously chose ‘Chhello Show’ over films such as SS Rajamouli’s “RRR”, Ranbir Kapoor-led “Brahmastra: Part One Shiva”, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ and R Madhavan’s directorial debut “Rocketry”. While this year, There was a total of 13 movies from different regions in different languages, including six from Hindi language films — ‘Brahmastra’, ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘Anek’, ‘Jhund’, ‘Badhaai Do’ and ‘Rocketry.’ The other movies include one from Tamil (‘Iravin Nizhal’), Telugu (‘RRR’), Bengali (‘Aparajito’) and Gujarati (‘Chhello Show’) as well as few others,” Aggarwal told PTI.
“Chhello Show” is selected as one of the film to India at the Oscar awards in 2023. The movie is been produced by Pan Nalin under the Chhello Show LLP, Monsoon Films and Jugaad Motion Pictures. Moreover, the movie was selected as the Indian entry for Best International Feature Film at 95th Academy Awards.
The “Chhello Show” ( Last Film Show) is a 2021 Gujarati language film starring Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval, and Paresh Mehta in the lead roles. The movie is been directed by Pan Nalin.
The movie is a reminder of childhood innocence and eagerness to learn new things. The story is about a boy living in a village in Saurashtra who celebrates the magic of movies. The movies is imposed against the backdrop of theaters in India noticing a massive shift from celluloid to digital, where hundreds of single-screen cinemas stand dilapidated or have disappeared altogether.
