Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language movie. The film is a fantasy adventure Indian mythological film, which sets in a modern world. It is a romantic fairytale in a supernatural format. The film will be released in three parts, and the beginning of India’s first original universe – the Astraverse. The story of the movie is written and directed by Ayan Mukerji. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the lead role in the mythological movie. Alia Bhatt will be seen in the female lead role. The other casts of the movie involve Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dimple Kapadia, Divyendu Sharma, Dhruv Sehgal, Saurav Gurjar and Shah Rukh Khan. Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva has been produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Namit Malhotra, Ranbir Kapoor, Marijike Desouza and Ayan Mukerji under the banner of Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures. Pritam will compose the film score and soundtrack of the film.
Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva was announced in July 2014, but the shooting of the movie started on 24th February 2018 and was halted due to a surge in Covid-19 cases. Later, it resumed in November 2020 and the shooting of the first part ended on 29th March 2022. The film was scheduled for a theatrical release on 23rd December 2016 but was delayed. Later the film was announced to release on 15th August 2019. The third released date was set for Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva in Christmas 2019, but it was cancelled again due to pending VFX work and shoot. In the 2020 summer, again the filmmakers tried to release the film, but again its not happened. 4th December 2020 was announced as its new release date, but due to the Pandemic, it was delayed. Now it will release on 9th September 2022.
Director Ayan Mukerji revealed that it is a “contemporary film with ancient elements.” The plot of the movie revolves around Shiva, a DJ and a secret society, Brahmansh, which has been guarding the weapons that were created in ancient India thousand years ago. Shiva, who emerges as the fire element and holds the power to awaken the Brahmastra, a supernatural weapon that is said “Weapon of all weapons” may be able to destroy the universe, capable of destroying creation and vanquishing all beings. Shiva has to face many evil forces that threaten our existence.
