Amarendra Baahubali –
Amarendra Baahubali, Maharaja Vikramdeva’s son, was born in Mahishmati (Maghizhmathi). His mother died while giving birth to him. He was named “Baahubali” by his aunt, Rajamatha Sivagami, who later became his foster mother.
Mahendra Baahubali –
Mahendra Baahubali was born in Mahishmati on the day his father Amarendra Baahubali was executed by Kattappa and his mother Devasena was held captive by Bhallaladeva.
Bhallaladeva is the king of Mahishmati. He is a renowned fighter, the only son of Sivagami and Bijjaladeva and brother of Amarendra Baahubali.
Devasena is a princess of Kunthala kingdom. Devasena is the lead female character of the Baahubali franchise along with Sivagami. Devasena is a skilled fighter and a great Archer.
Kattappa is the commander of kings royal bodyguards and Capital guards. Though he is a very much skilled warrior, he is a slave till death to the Crown of Mahishmati Kingdom. Kattappa’s forefathers, beginning with Vgrappa, pledged their allegiance and loyalty to the rulers of Mahishmati for their assistance in avenging against Vaithalikas.
Sivagami Devi –
Rajamatha (Queen Mother) Sivagami was the former regent of the Mahishmati Kingdom. She is a skilled fighter, feared by her enemies and seen to have thwarted enemies plot to overthrow the Mahishmati Kingdom. She is a true leader who treats everyone equally, including her son and nephew. She is a strong headed leader.
He is the husband of Sivagami and father of Bhallaladeva. Former prince of Mahishmati, during the reign of his father, Somadeva. He was a born cripple. He had many bad habits like drinking and that was the reason that he was replaced by his younger brother as the king of Mahishmati.
Avanthika is a skilled warrior and a fighter of the rebel group. Mahendra Baahubali falls in love with her and she later accepts him after she came to know that he climbed the hill just for her. She is rebellious, fierce warrior who fights for what is just. Like other female lead of series, she is strong, independent in her decisions and opinions.
Supporting Characters :-
Sheikh Aslam Khan –
He is a sword-merchant from Persia, who befriends Kattappa during the weapons trade. The character appears in the first film.
Bhadrudu is the son of Bhallaladeva. It has not been revealed who his mother is/was. Director Rajamouli later revealed that Bhadrudu was adopted by Bhallaladeva to be his heir. He is killed by Sivudu while the latter was rescuing Devasena from Bhallaladeva.
Jai Varma –
Jai Varma is the king of Kunthala kingdom and brother of Princess Devasena. After his entire kingdom is destroyed by Bhallaladeva, Jai Varma forms a rebellious group, to free Devasena. He is later killed by Bhallaladeva in the war.
Kumar Varma –
Kumar Varma is the brother of King Jai Varma’s unnamed wife. He lacks self-confidence until he meets Amarendra Baahubali, who boosts his confidence during the Pindari’s attack on the Kunthala kingdom. He also had feelings for Devasena. He is killed by Bijjaladeva when he was made to attempt killing Bhallaladeva as a part of their plan (or rather deceit by Bijjaladeva) to manipulate Sivagami to kill Amarendra Baahubali.
Inkoshi is the king of Kalakeyas, a tribe residing in a kingdom south of Mahishmati. He is killed by Bhallaladeva in the war. This character was featured in the first film ‘The Beginning’.
Setupati was the loyal friend of Bhallaladeva, who is later made chief lieutenant of Mahishmati by him.
At the time of Amarendra Baahubali’s birth, Martanda colluded with few other ministers and conspired to take over the crown. Sivagami uncovered the plot and killed him, before taking control of the throne.
A tribal woman who adopts Mahendra Baahubali after the villagers spot him in the river held by Sivagami. She is the alpha female, being the wife of the chieftain and holds a powerful position in her tribe.
Sakethudu/ Sakithan –
Sakethudu is a traitor, who sells Mahishmati’s war secrets to the ruthless Kalakeyas. He fled to Singapuram, but was subsequently captured by Baahubali and Bhallaladeva.
Avanthika’s friend and a member of the rebel group formed by now-ousted Kunthala king, Jai Varma to rescue Devasena.
The Story of Films – Baahubali 2: The Conclusion & Baahubali : The Beginning.
The story of the film Baahubali starts from when Amarendra Baahubali, Maharaja Vikramdeva’s son, was born in Mahishmati. His mother died while giving birth to him. He was named Baahubali by his Aunt ‘Rajamatha Sivagami’ who later became his foster mother. Sivagami raises both her nephew Amarendra Baahubali and her son Bhallaladeva to be worthy heirs of throne and when the time comes she decides to make once of them a king of Mahishmati.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion of Baahubali begins with Kattappa telling us how he ended up Killing Amarendra Baahubali. After vanquising the Kalakeyas, Amarendra Baahubali is declared as the future king of Mahishmati and Bhallaladeva is declared as the commander-in-chief. Though Bhallaladeva killed the Kalakeya invasion Inkoshi, Baahubali announced the next king as he showed more honor in the battle. The people started celebrating and waiting for the state consecration. That is when the monster combustion celebration is Celebrated which comes once in 26 years. This tradition for the prosperity of states. The daughter-in-law’s of the royal family walks to the fireplace itself 30 kosh away from the capital, bare feet to the temple of Mahadev in the forest and take away fire pit on her head and give a famine and should not stop until the resolution is reached.
Before the coronation, Rajamatha Sivagami Begins to look for a bride for Amarendra. She instructs Amarendra and Kattappa to tour the kingdom to understand its current state and its people. Amarendra falls in love with Devasena during a visit to Kunthala kingdom. Devasena is a princess of the Kunthala kingdom and the sister of the king of Kunthala. Bhallaladeva learns of Amarendra’s attempts to woo Devsena and hatches a plot to create a wedge between Amarendra and Sivagami by asking for Devasena’s hand in marriage for himself. Sivagami, unaware that Amarendra is in love with Devasena, promises Bhallaladeva Devasena’s hand in marriage.
Rajamatha Sivagami send an emissary to the kingdom of Kunthala who delivers the marriage proposal in an unpleasant way. Devasena rejects the marriage proposal with harsh word. Sivagami is angry to hear Devasena’s response and orders that Devasena be brought to Mahishmati as a captive. The kingdom of kuntala is attacked by Pindari’s, a dacoit like army. Amarendra, with the help of Devasena’s maternal uncle, Kumara Varma is able to nullify the attack and save Kunthala. Amarendra reveals who he is, tries to allay the tears of Sivagami’s rage and convinces Devasena to come with him to Mahishmati as his future bride.
Upon reaching Mahishmati the misunderstanding comes to light. When Sivagami delivers an final warning to Amarendra that he must either chose the throne or Devasena, he chooses Devasena. Devasena’s married Baahubali, with whom she has enraged a child Mahendra Baahubali. Bhallaladeva is crowned king and Amarendra is made the new commander-in-chief. During the coronation ceremony the people of Mahishmati calls out and asks Amarendra not to accept the new designation.
At Devasena’s baby shower, Bhallaladeva relieves Amarendra of his duties as commander-in-chief so that Amarendra can be with his wife. Devasena immediately speaks out against the king’s manipulation and the mute inaction of Sivagami. After that one day Devasena’s visit to the temple, Setupati gropes several common women. Disgusted by this, Devasena cuts his fingers when he is about to grope her. When Devasena stood for trial before King Bhallaladeva for cutting off his fingers, Baahubali says, “If a man touches a woman without her permission not his fingers, but his head, should be cut off!” and thus beheads him. Showing his way of dispersing justice. Then Rajamatha gets angry due to further clashes, Devasena and Amarendra are banished from the Palace. Amarendra and Devasena live happily among the people. Bhallaladeva hatches a plot with his father Bijjaladeva to convince Sivagami that Amarendra is trying to assassinate him.
Sivagami convinced that Bhallaladeva’s life is under threat and open action would result in factions and civil war. Kattappa was ordered by Sivagami and Bhallaladeva to kill Baahubali. Kattappa, bound by his word to serve the Queen, He kills Amarendra Baahubali despite knowing he is innocent, just to uphold his loyalty towards the crown. Amarendra by feigning he is in trouble, and then stabs him in the back and kills him. On the day Baahubali dies, Devasena gives birth to Mahendra Baahubali. Kattappa learns of Bhallaladeva’s treachery and informs Sivagami. Devasena too arrives to learn of her husband’s death with her son, Mahendra Baahubali, in her arms. Sivagami realising her mistake, Sivagami sacrifices her life in the attempt to save Mahendra Baahubali, the son of Amarendra Baahubali, from Bhallaladeva’s treachery. Sivagami announces the panicked hordes outside her palace that Amarendra is dead and the baby. Mahendra, is the new King.
Bhallaladeva orders his men to capture Devasena while Sivagami flees with baby Mahendra in Her arms. Devasena is taken prisoner for next 25 years. Kunthala kingdom is destroyed completely by Bhallaladeva. The now ousted Kunthala King, leads the rebel group that has indulged in guerrilla warfare against king Bhallaladeva.
After listening to the whole story Mahendra Baahubali alias Shivudu decides to avenge his father’s death by raising his own army with the help of Kattappa and returns to Mahishmati along with Avanthika and the people of the city. Bhallaladeva once again Kidnaps Devasena and seals the palace, but Baahubali, ingenious like his father, manages to enter the palace to capture Bhallaladeva.
Bijjaladeva tries to brainwash Kattappa reminding him of his forefather’s pledge of their allegiance to protect and defend the throne of Mahishmati and their duty to be loyal of the king. Kattappa reminds him that Sivagami had declared Mahendra Baahubali king before her death 25 years ago. Bhallaladeva is later defeated by Baahubali and burnt alive on a pure prepared by Devasena. Ending the cruel regime of Bhallaladeva, After Bhallaladeva’s death, Devasena becomes the new Queen Mother (Rajamatha) and announces Mahendra Baahubali as the new King of Mahishmati Kingdom.
Mahendra Baahubali later becomes the new King of Mahishmati and marries Avanthika. Her wife Avanthika devotes her life to a sole mission, saving devasena from the trap in Mahishmati set by Bhallaladeva. She fights alongside Mahendra Baahubali during the Mahishmati revolt and protects Devasena during the trial by fire ritual at the end of the sequel. After Bhallaladeva’s death his golden statue was disposed of by the order of King Mahendra Baahubali.
During the credits, a little girl listening to the story suggests that Mahendra and Avanthika’s child will become the new King of Mahishmati. Her narrator suggests that its another story.

You will not find spoilers on the #WKKB front in this review. After that when Baahubali 2 was released, people came to know why Kattappa killed Baahubali.
The Conclusion is a 2017 Indian epic action film directed by S.S Rajamouli and written by his father K.V Vijayendra Prasad. It was produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Media Works. Released on 28 April 2017, the film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah while Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, Nassar and Subbaraju appear in the prominent roles.
The second cinematic part in the Baahubali franchise, it is the follow-up to Baahubali: The Beginning, serving as both a sequel and prequel. The film is set in medieval India and follows the sibling rivalry between Amarendra Baahubali and Bhallaladeva; later conspires against the former and has him killed by Kattappa. Years later, Amarendra’s son returns to avenge his death. The Conclusion was made simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil and later dubbed into Hindi, Malayalam, Japanese, Russian and Chinese.
In March 2017, Rajamouli said in an interview that “Why Kattappa killed Baahubali” is the theme of the film. The tagline “The boy he raised, the man he killed” was billed in a poster featuring Kattappa. Rajamouli had stated that the Mahabharat was a source of inspiration for the film. Kanniks Kannikeswaran writes the characters resemble those “From Chandamama issues from the 1960’s and 70s” and feels that the “plots and subplots that bear distinct similarities to themes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata”. He calls Amarendra the “perfect Rama”, while calling Bhallaladeva “Duryodhan incarnate, an atatayi”. Bijjaladeva is compared to Sakuni, while the death of Bhadrudu is compared to Jayadratha’s death in the Mahabharata.

Prabhas was cast as main lead of the film. Anushka Shetty was cast as the lead actress of the film as She was also a part of Mirchi (2013). She coincidentally became the first heroine Rajamouli repeated in his films and thus made her schedules full for 2013 and 2014. Rana Daggubati was cast as the antagonist of the film and coincidentally he was also a part of Rudhramadevi. Sathyaraj signed the film.
In April 2013, Adivi Sesh was cast for a crucial role in the film as Rajamouli was impressed by his work in Panjaa (2011). Actress Ramya Krishna was Chosen to play the crucial role in the film as “Rajamatha” in August 2013. Actor Nassar was selected to play a supporting role. Charandeep was selected to play the brother of the film’s chief villain. On 20 December 2013 a press release stated that Tamannaah will be starring in the film playing the role of”Avanthika”. Meka Ramakrishna was picked for the head of the Kuntala guerillas.
Characters and Looks :-
Rana Daggubati was said to be playing the role of Prabhas brother and he too underwent a lot of physical transformation satisfying the role he was assigned to play in the film. He also underwent training in Martial arts under the supervision of a Vietnamese trainer, Tuan. Sathyaraj has a Tonsured Look for his role in the film. Sudeep said that he would play the role of a weapons trader Aslam Khan in this film. In the end of October 2013, Rana Daggubati appeared at a fashion show with a beefed up body which, according to him, was a part of his look in the film. In Mid-May 2014, reports emerged that Anushka would play a pregnant woman for a few sequences in the second part of the film.
At the same time, Prabhas posted on his facebook page that he underwent minor shoulder surgery and would join the film’s sets in a Span of a month. On 1 June 2014, Prabhas and Dana’s trainer Lakshman Reddy said that Prabhas started his training 8 Months before the commencement of shooting and after two years, both of them weighed nearly 100 kibs each. He also added that Prabhas has two attires with a heavy, bulky body for Baahubali’s role and a lean physique for the second role. For his look, Prabhas met WWE superstars like The Undertaker in February 2014 and interacted with them about their daily regimen and workouts.
Prabhas has equipment costing ₹15 million shipped to his home, where he built a personal gym. His breakfast included 40 half-boiled egg whites blended and added with protein powder. In mid-June 2014, regarding her role in the film, Tamannaah said that she would be playing the role of warrior princess named Avanthika and her appearance in the film is completely different when compared to her past films. Before joining the film’s shoot, Tamannaah did costume trials for the film which she confirmed in her micro-blogging page stating “I am very excited to get on to the set of Baahubali. I did some dress trails today and my look in this movie will be totally new. I have never been seen in such sort of a look till now. It will be a new role for me”. Rajamouli called Tamannaah and her characterisation as a “value addition” to the movie. She stated that she plays Avanthika, and had a special training and diet regime. The film introduced a new language called Kiliki.
Initially scheduled for release in summer 2016, the release date of The Conclusion was postponed to November 2016 due to preparations for the international release of The Beginning in various locations. This was further pushed to 28 April 2017. At first, the joint budget of both The Beginning and The Conclusion was speculated to be around ₹ 2.5 billion. This was later confirmed by Rajamouli in 2015. However, the joint Budget of the series was increased to ₹ 4.3 billion, of which ₹1.8 billion was the budget for The Beginning and ₹2.5 billion for The Conclusion. The climax of The Conclusion alone cost 300 million, almost double the amount of The Beginning climax.
Rajamouli’s cousin M.M Keeravani composed the music and Background for the film. The Conclusion’s Telugu soundtrack was released on 26 March 2017 at the pre-release event of the film at YMCA grounds. The album of the film’s Hindi version was released on 5 April 2017, while the Tamil version was released on 9 April. The Malayalam version was released on 24 April 2017.

On 22 November 2016, a 2-minute war sequence from the film was leaked and posted on facebook and Twitter. The following day, the people arrested a video editor for stealing and uploading the scenes. The Deccan Chronicle, noticing the lack of punishment, felt the leak was a publicity stunt. Following this 9-minute war sequence supposedly from the climax was leaked. The video lacked VFX.
