She is best known for playing the role of Maya Awasthy in the Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par. She started her acting career in 1993 with the film Platform as Tina. She has appeared in films like Baali Umar Ko Salaam, Taqdeerwala, Karobaar: The Business of Love, Sau Jhooth Ek Sach, Firaaq, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, OMG: OhMy God!, Rahasya, The Hungry, Good Newwz and Jugjugg Jeeyo. She made her television debut in 1999 with Star Plus’s television series Star Bestsellers- Ek Shaam Ki Mulakaat as Sarla. She has appeared in television serials like Astitva… Ek Prem Kahani, Karishma Kaa Karishma, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Sarkar: Rishton Ki Ankahi Kahani, Mariam Khan- Reporting Live and Dahan. She made her short film debut in 2016 with the film Chutney, in which she played the role of Vanita. She is also the writer and producer of this film.
