She is best known for playing the role of Phoolan Devi in the film ‘Bandit Queen’ and Shakuntala in the film ‘Water’. She made her Bollywood debut in 1988 with the film Amshini as Sarada. In 1999, she made her Marathi film debut with the film Bindhaast as CBI Officer. In 2001, she made her Malayalam film debut with the film Shantham.
