Rahul Kumar Johar popularly Karan Kumar Johar is an Indian filmmaker and television personality who is known for working in the Bollywood film industry. He was born on 25th May 1972 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to Yash Johar and Hiroo Johar. His father was a film producer and founder of Dharma Productions. He did his schooling at Greenlawn’s High School, Mumbai. Later, he studied at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai.

Karan started his career as an actor in 1989 with the serial Indradhanush. In 1995, Karan entered the film industry as an assistant director in the film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Karan made his directorial debut with the 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He also wrote the screenplay of the film. He won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film also won major awards at the 44th Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and all four acting awards. In 2001, Karan directed his second film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… He also worked as a screenwriter in this film. Another successful hit film for Karan Johar. The film received positive reviews from critics. The film won five Filmfare Awards. In 2003, Karan made his debut as a producer with the film Kal Ho Naa Ho. His third film was as a screenwriter. Karan became the father of twins in 2017 through surrogacy. He has a son, Yash and a daughter, Roohi.
