In 2001, he tied up the knot with his high school sweetheart Payal Khanna, but the couple got a divorce in 2009 after the rumors of Aditya Chopra’s affair with Rani Mukerji started surfacing. The couple had no Children. On 21 April 2014, he married his rumored girlfriend of many years, Rani Mukerji in a private wedding ceremony in Italy. Their first Child Adira Chopra was born in December 2015.

After assisting his Father Yash Chopra on the Sridevi starrer Lamhe (1991) and Chandni (1989), and Shahrukh Khan starrer Darr (1993), Aditya Chopra made his directorial debut with the mega-blockbuster film Dilwale dulhania le jayenge. The filmmaker who is the recipient of several National Awards and Filmmaker Awards has also directed movies like Mohabbatein (2000), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), and Befikre (2016). Produced and Written also by Aditya Chopra, Befikre is a modern take on love and relationships.
He has directed many famous Hindi films like, Tiger Zinda Hai, Qaidi Band, Sultan, Fan, Kill Dill, Mardaani, Gunday, Dhoom 3, Shuddh Desi Romance, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ek Tha Tiger, Ladies VS Ricky Bhai, Dil Bole Haddippa, Mere Brother ki Dulhan, Badmaash Company, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Chak De India, Dhoom 2, Fanaa, Dhoom, Veer-Zara, Mujhse Dosti Karoge etc. He has received many awards for Best Director.

The Filmmaker wrote his first script for Yash Raj Chopra’s Parampara, the movie failed miserably at the box office. He further wrote the screenplay and co-wrote the dialogues of his film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. He has been credited as a writer for many successful films starring Shah Rukh Khan like Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997), Mohabbatein (2000), Veer Zaara (2004), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). He has also written screenplays and scripts for ‘new-age’ movies like Salaam Namaste, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Band Baaja Baraat, Ladies VS Ricky Bhai and Befikre. The superhit Dhoom trilogy starring Abhishek Bachchan as an Indian super-cop and Uday Chopra as his sidehick is also penned down by this multi-talented filmmaker.
As a Producer :-
In 1997, Aditya Chopra under his father’s banner, Yash Raj films produced Dil Toh Pagal Hai. After the blockbuster success of the romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra Produced Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, and Mujhse Dosti Karoge, both of the film’s starred his brother Uday Chopra but failed at the box office. In the year 2004, Aditya Chopra produced three films: Hum Tum, Veer Zaara and Dhoom. All of them were smashing hits at the Box office and recieved huge commercial and critical success.
In 2007, the film mogul produced the National Award – winning film Chak De! India, establishing YRF as a production house catering to all kind of cinema. In between 2007 and 2010, YRF suffered some major losses and released commercial flops one after the other. Movies like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007), Tashan (2008), Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008), Roadside Romeo (2008), and Pyaar Impossible (2010), all these movies failed to leave any impact amongst the audience. After the release of the crime comedy film Badmaash Company, the filmmaker took over as the Vice-president of Yash Raj films and produced films like Rocket Singh; Salesman of the Year, Band Baaja Baraat, Ladies VS Ricky Bahl, Ishaqzaade and Shuddh Desi Romance, introducing fresh faces in the industry.
In 2012 and 2013, Yash Raj films produced record-breaking commercial films starring the top three khan’s viz. Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger, Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3. In 2012, after the death of Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra was made the Chairman of YRF. Hereafter Aditya Chopra produced Gunday, Bewakoofiyaan, Mardaani, Dawaat-e-Ishq, and Kill Dill. Released in 2014, all the above mentioned films bombed at the Box office, 2015 saw YRF foray into non-commercial and offbeat cinema, with films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi!, and Titli. Replicating the success of Ek Tha Tiger! Aditya Chopra made the action-drama film Sultan, with Salman Khan in 2016.
As a Chairman :-
After the death of his father Yash Chopra in October 2012, Aditya Chopra was elevated to the position of Chairman and Chief Executive of the company’s Studio wing. The company went for a soft-Launch on 3 January 2013. The company received angel investment by institutional Fund-raisers such as LIC of India, RNT Associates, Catamaran Ventures, Maruti Udyog, Premjilnvest and Unilazer Ventures. YRF was made open to Indian enterprises only and no FDI was accepted. YRF came out with more films, under the chairmanship of Chopra and the new management.
Controversy –
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on 14 June at his Mumbai home. The Mumbai police has so far questioned over 30 people in this entire case. These include Aditya Chopra, Rhea Chakraborty, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mukesh Chhabra, Yash Raj Films casting director Shanu Sharma among many others, besides members of Sushant’s Family.
