Achal Surinder Kapoor popularly known as Boney Kapoor is an Indian film producer who is known for producing several Bollywood films. He was born on 11th November 1955 in Meerut to Surinder Kapoor and Nirmal Kapoor. His father was a film producer. He has two brothers Anil and Sanjay, and one sister, Reena.
Boney started his career under Shakti Samanta.
He made his debut as a producer in 1980 with the film Hum Paanch. In 1983, he produced his second film Woh Saat Din. Mr India was his only produced film in 1987. This was a successful film in Boney’s life. It marked the turning point of Boney’s career. In 1992, Boney produced two films, Raat and Drohi. Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was his only produced film in 1993. In 1995, he produced the film, Prem. Loafer was his only produced film in 1996.
Later, in 1997, he produced the film Judaai. In 1999, he produced another film, Sirf Tum. He produced two films in 2000, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai and Pukar. In 2002, he produced three films, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, Company and Shakti. Khushi was his only produced film in 2003. In the following years, he produced several films, such as Run (2004), Kyun…! Ho Gaya Na (2004), Bewafaa (2005), No Entry (2005), Wanted (2009), Milenge Milenge (2010), Tevar (2015), Mom (2017), It’s My Life (2020), Jeet Ki Zid (2021), Maidaan (2022), Mili (2022).
Next, he produced his first Tamil film Nerkonda Paarvai in 2019. Valimai, Nenjuku Needhi and Veetla Vishesham were his three produced films of 2022. In 2021, he produced his first Telugu film, Vakeel Saab.
On the centenary of Indian cinema, Mr. India was declared one of the 100 Greatest Indian Films of All Time.
Boney married Mona Shourie in 1983. Together they have two children, a son Arjun Kapoor (born 1985), and a daughter Anshula Kapoor (born 1990). They separated in 19996.
Boney again married actress Sridevi on 2 June 1996. Together they had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor (born 6 March 1997) and Khushi Kapoor (born 5 November 2000). Sridevi died on 24th February 2018.
